Where to Sell Jazz, Blues & Soul Vinyl Records for the Best Offer

Why Sell Your Jazz, Blues & Soul Vinyl Records?

Jazz, blues, and soul records possess a timeless appeal, with collectors continually seeking out rare and well-preserved albums. Your records could be valuable if you own first pressings, obscure releases, or classic LPs from legendary artists. Selling your collection helps preserve these musical treasures and gives them a new home where they will be appreciated.

When considering where to sell your records, you have several options. However, not all buyers offer the same level of expertise, convenience, or pricing. Below are some standard selling methods and why DJ Records™ is your best choice.

1. Local Record Stores

Local record shops can be an option for selling vinyl, but they often buy selectively and may only take individual records rather than entire collections. Additionally, because they need to resell the records at a profit, the prices they offer may not reflect the actual market value of your collection.

2. Online Marketplaces (eBay, Discogs, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace)

While selling online allows you to reach a broad audience, it requires a significant amount of time and effort. You’ll need to research pricing, create detailed listings, respond to buyer inquiries, package records securely, and manage shipping logistics. Additionally, online platforms charge fees, and you risk dealing with returns, disputes, or unreliable buyers.

3. Private Collectors

Some collectors may be willing to pay well for specific rare records, but finding the right buyer can be challenging. Selling to collectors often requires extensive networking and may result in multiple transactions rather than a quick, bulk sale.

4. Professional Vinyl Buyers (Best Option for Large Collections)

At DJ Records™, we specialize in purchasing entire collections of jazz, blues, and soul vinyl. We offer a hassle-free process, fair offers based on current market demand, and in-person evaluations to help you maximize the value of your collection. If you have an extensive library of records, we make it easy by coming to you and making an on-the-spot offer—no shipping, no stress.

What Jazz, Blues & Soul Vinyl Records Are Worth the Most?

Certain records in these genres hold significant value, particularly:

  • First pressings of iconic albums (e.g., Miles Davis – Kind of Blue, John Coltrane – A Love Supreme)
  • Rare blues records from early pressings (e.g., Robert Johnson, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters)
  • Soul and Motown classics in excellent condition (e.g., Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin)
  • Limited editions and promotional pressings
  • Records with original artwork, inserts, and sleeves

If you’re unsure about the value of your collection, we can evaluate it and make an informed offer based on rarity, condition, and current demand.

I searched and struggled for quite a while to find a way to pass along my vinyl collection until I found DJ Records. Everything from first contact until Christian boxed up my collection was fair, hassle free and enjoyable. Thank you!
I have had 4 experiences with DJ Records in the past 12 months. Jeremy has been wonderful to deal with and the price I got was so much more then I was offered for a local company. They were a pleasure to deal with.
My brother left me his 65 year old record collection in his Will. I had no idea where to start. DJ Records worked with me to navigate the daunting task of partial liquidation. Great staff. Great experience!
While it may be disappointing to find out your coveted collections aren't as valuable as you thought, DJ Records made a fair deal for what was worth something. After doing much research into selling records on my own, I found that it would be a grueling task to try and sell over 800 records (if you look at the process : you have to mint, clean them up, take pictures, get them online, figure out how to ship, wait for the right buyer). The owner Ron arrived on time, during impending snow and carefully sorted thru each record. He made an offer same day and took all of the records immediately following. I was completely satisfied with the offer knowing I could not have done it on my own.
DJ Records were great .
They were very fair and wonderful to deal with
